Composition
Each 100 gm contains:
Amoxicillin trihydrate 50 gm
Description
Amoxicillin is a broad-spectrum semisynthetic penicillin effective against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria by inhibiting cell wall synthesis. It is well absorbed orally, stable in gastric acid, excreted mostly unchanged via kidneys, and widely distributed in body fluids. In birds, amoxicillin is distributed and eliminated faster than in mammals.
Indications
Used to treat salmonellosis and pasteurellosis in pigs and infections from amoxicillin-susceptible bacteria in chickens, turkeys, and ducks. Not effective against beta-lactamase producers. Use should be based on susceptibility testing and current antimicrobial policies.
Contraindications
Do not administer to rabbits, hamsters, gerbils, guinea pigs, or egg-laying birds producing eggs for human consumption. Avoid use in animals with known hypersensitivity to amoxicillin.
Side Effects
Possible hypersensitivity reactions.
