Properties
Doxycycline, a tetracycline antibiotic, offers broad-spectrum bacteriostatic activity by blocking bacterial protein synthesis. It is effective against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, aerobes, anaerobes, Mycoplasmata, Chlamydiae, and Rickettsia.
Indications
For breeders and broiler chickens to treat:
- Pasteurellosis (Pasteurella multocida)
- Respiratory infections (Ornithobacterium rhinotracheale/ORT)
Target Species
Breeders and broiler chickens.
Dosage & Administration
- Pasteurella multocida: 2.2 g Doxiven 40%/100 kg body weight in 10 L water daily for 3–4 days.
- ORT: 4.4 g Doxiven 40%/100 kg body weight in 10 L water daily for 3–4 days.
Warnings & Precautions
- Do not combine with bactericidal antibiotics (penicillins, cephalosporins).
- Use based on culture and sensitivity results.
- Do not store medicated water in metal containers.
Contraindications
- Not for animals with hypersensitivity to ingredients or impaired liver function.
