Composition

Each 100 ml contains:

• Tilmicosin (as phosphate): 25 g

Description

Tilmicosin is a broad-spectrum, semi-synthetic macrolide antibiotic derived from tylosin. It acts by inhibiting protein synthesis at the 50S ribosomal subunit, targeting organisms such as Mycoplasma spp., Pasteurella spp., Haemophilus spp., and various Gram-positive bacteria. Cross-resistance may occur with other macrolides. Following oral administration, tilmicosin is primarily excreted via bile and faeces; a portion is eliminated in urine.

Indications

TILMOVEN 25% is indicated for the treatment and control of respiratory infections caused by tilmicosin-sensitive microorganisms, including Mycoplasma spp., Pasteurella multocida, Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae, Actinomyces pyogenes, and Mannheimia haemolytica in calves, pigs, chickens, and turkeys.

Contraindications

• Hypersensitivity or resistance to tilmicosin
• Concurrent administration with other macrolides or lincosamides
• Administration to animals exhibiting active microbial digestion
• Use in equine or caprine species
• Parenteral administration, particularly in swine
• Use during pregnancy and lactation should be based on a veterinarian’s risk/benefit assessment

Dosage and Administration

Administer orally as follows:

• Calves: 1 ml per 20 kg body weight, twice daily in (artificial) milk for 3–5 days
• Pigs: 800 ml per 1000 litres of drinking water (200 ppm) for 5 days
• Poultry: 300 ml per 1000 litres of drinking water (75 ppm) for 3 days

(25 mg tilmicosin / kg / day.)

7 days
